We Are The Brennans by Tracey Lange

I love a good family story - full of drama, secrets and relationship dynamics - what’s not to love? The Brennans are an Irish catholic family with four adult children who grew up in a big cluttered house just outside of New York City. When Sunday, the only daughter now living in Los Angeles, gets hospitalized following a drunk driving accident, her oldest brother Denny flies out there to check on her. Faced with the loss of her driver’s license and a dead end job, Sunday ends up going back with Denny to move into the family home with the rest of her brothers and their father. The story swirls around the family bar/restaurant, the other brothers and their lives, their direct from Ireland father, and a now married lost love of Sunday’s. The reader learns the secrets that lead to Sunday’s abruptly leaving the family and the man that she loves to live in Los Angeles for five years. Tossed in the mix is a bit of danger relating to an ill-conceived loan for a new bar/restaurant on Denny’s part (that ties him to a dark character from Sunday’s past) and it makes for a good story.
