Fans of Agatha Christie rejoice because this novel echoes the late author’s work and heavily resembles Christie’s And Then There Were None. In fact, the book is referenced often throughout this story as the fictional detectives working on the crimes committed inside these pages make the connection between Christie’s work and what is happening. In Swanson’s latest, nine different people spread throughout the U.S. each receive an identical piece of paper in the mail that reads their own name plus eight others. No one knows anyone else on the list. Law Enforcement officers working on the case struggle to make connections between the people listed and are racing against time as people start being killed. Slowly, tentative connections are made and the frightful, sad truth finally comes out along with a couple of twists. Peter Swanson has a way of giving characters three dimensionality all while spinning an adept and heart pounding tale!
